GMP Cleanroom Requirements for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Learn GMP cleanroom grades, ISO classification, pressure control and design rules for pharma production, sterile filling and oral solid workshops.Pharmaceutical cleanrooms are built to strictly control airborne particles, microorganisms, temperature, humidity and room pressure, complying with EU GMP Annex 1, FDA cGMP and ISO14644 standards.GMP Grade & ISO Equivalent
- Grade A (ISO5): Aseptic filling, direct sterile product exposure, requires laminar airflow
- Grade B (ISO7): Background clean zone surrounding Grade A area
- Grade C (ISO7~8): Liquid preparation, non-sterile formulation
- Grade D (ISO8): Component washing, packaging and raw material handling
Core Design Requirements
- Pressure differential: Maintain ≥10Pa positive pressure from higher-grade clean area to lower-grade area, prevent cross-contamination.
- Surface material: Walls, ceiling and floor must be smooth, crack-free, seamless, non-shedding and easy for regular disinfection. We use GMP qualified clean sandwich panels.
- Air filtration: HEPA H13/H14 filters for terminal filtration, matched with proper air change rate.
- Personnel & material transfer: Air shower, pass box and airlock must be installed between clean zone and non-clean zone.
For pharma clients, we deliver full EPC service including layout design, modular panel supply, HVAC system installation, commissioning and cleanroom validation.
