Virus Research Laboratory Project, Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center
1.Project Overview
Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center undertakes core scientific research tasks including major infectious disease research, virus strain isolation, gene sequencing and pathogen detection. It has built multi-level BSL-2/BSL-3 virus protection laboratories, strictly divided into clean buffer zones, semi-contaminated sample preparation zones and core negative-pressure contaminated virus operation zones. We supplied a full set of stainless steel clean enclosure systems, negative-pressure biosafety pass-through windows, buffer air showers, sterile clean doors & windows and integrated arc clean auxiliary materials. The complete purification system was deployed for the full laboratory zoning renovation, meeting biosafety prevention and control standards for high-level virus laboratories.
2.Project Challenges
- 1. High-pathogenic virus tests require stable negative pressure gradient, with unidirectional airflow flowing from clean areas to contaminated areas to prevent pathogen leakage.
- 2. Frequent use of highly corrosive disinfectants containing chlorine and peroxides; enclosures and equipment must be seamless, corrosion-resistant and free of sterile dead corners.
- 3. Full isolation during transfer of samples, culture media and consumables to avoid cross-contamination of different virus strains and air cross-flow.
- 4. Strict compliance with biosafety codes GB19489, GB50346 and cleanroom standard ISO14644, passing CNAS biosafety acceptance.
- 5. Long-term non-stop scientific experiments; enclosure airtightness and purification equipment need stable low-failure operation 24 hours a day.

3.Supporting Solutions & Implementation Results
- 1. Clean Enclosure System: SUS304 stainless steel seamless clean wall panels and ceiling, integrated arc inner corners and full stainless steel finishing accessories, resistant to repeated disinfection wiping with no gaps for dirt accumulation.
- 2. Biosafety Negative Pressure Pass-through Window: Electronic double-door interlock, built-in UV sterilization and negative pressure air lock, enabling closed cross-zone sample transfer and blocking aerosol spread of viruses.
- 3. Buffer Isolation Equipment: Stainless steel air showers and airtight clean doors for graded dust removal and disinfection of personnel entry & exit, blocking external pollutant intrusion.
- 4. Zoned Pressure Differential Matching: High-seal enclosure structure to stably maintain multi-stage negative pressure gradients, paired with high-efficiency exhaust filtration to realize full closed control of viruses.
After project delivery, all indicators including airtightness, negative pressure and microbial prevention meet standards, fully protecting dual safety of researchers and laboratory environment during virus strain tests and pathogen detection.
